American Heritage took to the ground to overpower Hallandale in a 38-15 victory.
Both teams entered the game with a 7-1 record. Heritage ranks 17th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and 2nd in Florida. Hallandale, though not in the national rankings, sits in the top 10 teams in Florida.
In the first quarter, the Patriots jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but Hallandale added on a touchdown of its own before the quarter’s close. Heritage pounded two more scores in the second while keeping the Chargers off the board, to take a 24-10 advantage into the break.
The second half continued must like the first. American Heritage tacked on two more TD’s. Hallandale continued to struggle through the Patriot’s defense, only reaching the endzone once in the second half.
Heritage’s defense was ultimately the decisive factor of the contest. The Patriots handled Hallandale star QB Tyler Huntley quite well, only allowing him to throw for two TD and forced an interception and three sacks. On top of that, Heritage forced another three turnovers from the rest of the Chargers.
On offense, Heritage ran the ball well, with QB Jason Brown rushing for 92 yards and three TDs on 11 carries. Kyshaun Bryan added on two scores on 11 touches while Kahlil Herbert gained 119 yards on 13 carries.
Now 8-1, American Heritage prepares for its final contest of the regular season. After a two-week break, the Patriots host Westwood on November 13.
